What is SSC CGL?
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the SSC CGL examinations to shortlist candidates for Group-B and Group-C posts at various ministries in India. SSC CGL application forms are filled out by about 30 lakh candidates every year and about 15 lakh candidates appear in the exam. The test is divided into four stages, sometimes referred to as tiers, by the Staff Selection Commission. On the first and second tiers of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam, questions are answered online. On the third and fourth-tiers of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL), the exams are conducted offline.

SSC CGL 2022 Eligibility 
To apply for the SSC CGL Exam, candidates must verify their eligibility. Detailed eligibility requirements for SSC CGL are given below. To apply for SSC CGL, candidates must possess the required education and meet the age requirements.
  1. Age limit: Applicants must check the detailed eligibility criteria for SSC CGL posts before filling out an application. Different posts within SSC CGL have different age limits. Most of the posts require a minimum age of 18, while the maximum age ranges between 27 and 32. 
  2. Educational Qualification: Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University. Math, Statistics or Economics must either be an elective or a mandatory subject.
SSC CGL 2022 Application Form - How to apply

  • Find the "Online application for SSC CGL exam" menu item and tap on it.
  • Complete the first part of the CGL 2022 registration.
  • After that, you must complete part 2 of the CGL registration 2022.
  • There is a link on the page that allows you to pay the application fee online.
  • Necessary documents should be uploaded in the format provided.
  • After your clear verification, submit your SSC CGL 2022 application form.
SSC CGL 2022 Application Fees
  • The application fee is 100 rupees.
  • No fee is due from females, SCs, STs, disabled people and ex-servicemen.
  • SBI Net Banking, SBI credit/debit cards or through challans are the only means of payment accepted. Online challans will be created.
  • Upon completion of Part-1 registration, candidates can print off the challan generated online and take it to a retailer and pay by cash. Deposit in any SBI branch before the Part-2 registration process.
  • After completing part-1 registration, candidates who wish to pay online may proceed straight to part-2 registration. Part-2 registration requires candidates to provide their registration number and date of birth.

SSC CGL 2022 Syllabus
The SSC CGL 2022 is divided into four levels. Exams in Tier 1 are primarily screening and scoring tests. At Tier 2, merit determines the results.

 

Tier 1
Tier 1 for SSC CGL 2022 is made up of four sections as follows:
  • General Knowledge: The purpose of this section is to evaluate the candidate's General Knowledge and General Science and how they apply to society. The topics are Science, Important Schemes, Books and Authors, Current Affairs and Sports.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Questions in the Quantitative Aptitude section of Tier 1 of the SSC CGL Exam focus on determining how well the candidate can use numbers and develop a sense of numbers. According to the commission, SSC CGL Quantitative Aptitude will consist of the following topics: Computation of whole numbers, Decimals, Fractions, Relationships between numbers, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Time & Distance, Mixture & Alligation, Time and Work.
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: General Intelligence and Reasoning topics are covered in both verbal and nonverbal formats. This section will indicate the candidate's ability to be alert and active in any situation. The topics covered are: Analogies, Blood Relations, Space visualization, Similarities and differences, Spatial orientation, Analysis, Problem-solving and Judgment.
  • English Comprehension: Only the English section of SSC CGL Tier 1 will be conducted in English. As the candidates take the exam, they will have to solve questions that will analyse their knowledge of the subject and their ability to understand basic concepts and write well. Topics are Phrases and Idioms, One-word Substitution, Sentence Correction, Error Spotting, Fill in the Blanks and Spellings Correction.

SSC CGL 2022 Selection Process
Following are the tiers of the SSC CGL selection process:
  1. Process of application: On the official website of the commission, candidates should complete the application form. The fee for filling out the application form is 100 rupees.
  2. Admit cards for Tier 1: Admit cards are released by regional SSC websites. To download their admit cards, candidates must visit SSC websites.
  3. Tier 1 exam: A Computer-Based Test (CBT) consists of Object-Oriented Multiple-Choice Questions with 200 points.
  4. Results for Tier 1: SSC announces the results on its website 45 days after the examination. The results contain the names of the candidates who qualified for the Tier 2 exam.
  5. Admit card for Tier 2: Admit cards must be downloaded from the official regional websites by candidates eligible for the Tier 2 exam. Admit cards are usually available about one week before the examination.
  6. Tier 2 exam: Tier 2 consists of four papers and is again an online CBT.
  7. Results for Tier 2: In the form of a merit list, the result for Tier 2 is posted on the commission's official website. If candidates pass Tier 2, they will be called to attend Tier 3 exams.
  8. Admit card for Tier 3: The Tier 3 exam follows the Tier 2 exam, with only a week or ten days between the two exams. Admit cards for Tier 3 are thus released after Tier 2 admit cards.
  9. Tier 3 exam: Tier 3 is a descriptive exam that uses pen and paper.
  10. Results for Tier 3: CGL results for Tier 3 can also be viewed online in the same manner as those for Tier 1 and 2. The candidates who pass the Tier 3 exam must then appear for the Tier 4 exam.
  11. Tier 4 admit card: SSC also publishes Tier 4 admit cards on its regional websites, just like other Tiers admit cards.
  12. Tier 4 exam: As part of Tier 4, candidates must pass either a computer proficiency test, a skill test or a document verification, depending on the post they are applying for. CGL Tier 4 is considered a qualifying exam only. This means that Tier 4 marks are not taken into consideration when the results are announced. 
  13. Results for SSC CGL: According to the results of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 exams, the final result is announced. Thereafter, Group-B and C posts are allocated to all qualified candidates in various ministries, departments and organizations of the Government of India.

There will be a separate cut-off for each tier and post in the SSC CGL. To qualify for the next tier of examinations, candidates must score higher than the cut-off marks set by the commission. SSC will likewise announce the final cut-offs for SSC CGL, which will determine the final selection. These factors determine the cut-offs for each tier level.

1. Can a candidate apply for more than one post for the SSC CGL exam?
As long as an applicant meets the qualification criteria, they can apply to more than one post.
 
2. Does the SSC CGL Examination allow for additional age relaxation for female candidates?
Female applicants are not eligible for relaxation; however, age restrictions will be given based on the applicant's category.
 
3.  Do SSC CGL exams have negative markings?
In the Tier 1 exam, there will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks.
